About Mayra Medina
Your calm, experienced support through early parenthood

Hi
I'm Mayra
If you’re feeling a mix of love, fear, exhaustion,
and uncertainty right now, I want you to know that you’re not alone.
I help parents feel more rested, more confident, and less overwhelmed during the early weeks (and months) with a new baby. As a newborn care specialist, certified postpartum doula, and in-home sleep conditioning consultant, I offer practical, evidence-based support right where you need
it most: in your home.
My approach is calm, personal, and built on real experience, not theory.

My Journey
Into
This Work
I was born in Mexico and moved to Los Angeles at 15. Growing up, I watched the women in my family come together to care for new mothers after birth. They cooked, cleaned, held babies, and held space, and I never forgot it.

I’ve raised four children of my own and recently became a grandmother. Professionally, I started in early childhood education, studied child development, and ran a preschool and daycare before transitioning into nanny work.
Over time, I realized that newborn care was where I felt most called.
Seven years ago, I officially became a newborn care specialist. Since then,
I’ve also trained as a postpartum doula, completed a NICU support course, and became a certified sleep consultant.
Today, I offer only in-person care, no online coaching, no rigid schedules. just real, respectful help from someone who’s been there and is trained to guide you through it.

Why
I do this work
Growing up in Mexico, postpartum care was a community effort. My aunts received warm food, body support, baby help, and daily love during their cuarentena, the 40-day postpartum period that prioritized the mother’s healing as much as the baby’s care.
That stayed with me.
Now, through Holistic Newborn Care & Doula Services, I bring that same spirit into the homes of families across Los Angeles and select areas of Orange County.
My goal is simple: to help you feel held. Whether I’m caring for your newborn through the night, answering questions without judgment, or preparing you for a more restful routine, I show up gently, skillfully, and with deep respect for your parenting choices and cultural background.

I offer care that’s both structured and flexible. You can expect consistency, dependability, and kindness without judgment or pressure.

Whether I’m up with your baby overnight so you can sleep, helping you understand feeding cues, or walking alongside you through a tough postpartum week, I’m there to lighten your load and help you feel less alone.
No family is the same, so no two care plans are either.
How I
Work

Who
I work with

I’ve had the honor of working with:
-
First-time parents • Single parents • LGBTQ+ families • Surrogate and adoptive families • Parents of twins and preemies • Clients from many cultural and spiritual backgrounds
No matter your story, I meet you right where you are, with open arms and a grounded heart.

Are your services available overnight?
Yes. Many families hire me for overnight newborn care so they can get meaningful rest while I care for their baby during the night.
Do you offer sleep training?
Not formal sleep training. I offer in-home sleep conditioning, which is gentle, developmentally appropriate support to help your baby ease into longer stretches of sleep, based on their cues and your family’s routine. I can also help you implement a plan you already have.
Do you offer virtual services?
No. All of my care is offered in person throughout Los Angeles and parts of Orange County. I believe real connection happens in real presence.

When I'm not
Working
You’ll usually find me in the kitchen, garden, or chasing after my grandbaby. I love spending time with my family, cooking healing foods, and soaking in the chaos and beauty of multigenerational life.
